(Also know as Fat-tailed Gerbils)
Small, soft and sweet, these cousins to the gerbil family
love to sit in your hand and be petted.
A great beginner pet due to it's gentle nature.
Duprasi are native to Africa in the desert regions of Egypt.
The minimum size cage for a duprasi is 24"wide x 12"deep x 12"high. A ten-gallon aquarium is a good choice. Provide lots of cardboard tubes or 2" PVC pipes to play in. Branches and twigs of non-toxic trees are also recommended to climb and chew on.
We feed our duprasi a quality vitamin fortified finch diet with some fruit and leafy greens. We also provide Timothy hay for them to eat and make nest.
Duprasi also love crickets and mealworms as a snack. We also supplement their diet with 10% kitten food, once a week.
Duprasi enjoy an occasional sand bath.
Duprasi live up to 5 years in captivity.
